GERRARD STICKS WITH LIVERPOOL

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard decided to stick with his former club as he analysed which clubs will likely make the top four at the end of the current season.

After the victory of Chelsea over Everton – despite the initial hopes of an Everton victory throwing open the Premier League race –, Jurgen Klopp’s men are level on points with Pep Guardiola’s boys. Manchester United are just a point behind, with Arsenal trailing by 5 points (though with a game in hand) after their loss to Tottenham over the weekend.

Chelsea have 81 points and Tottenham follow but four points adrift. Arsenal have a game in hand while Liverpool have now had their game advantage over the rest of the four removed - though only until they play Watford tonight. The whole situation in the top six is tricky and unpredictable with just four games left to play!

Whilst some fans still believe that Chelsea can be overtaken at the last, the experience of winning Serie A (on multiple occasions) should ensure that the blues cross the finishing line and take the trophy home, according to the gurus at bettingtips4you who have made all the various computations to work out what the smart bet is for the title.

Meanwhile, the battle for a top 4 spot, and a place in next year's lucrative Champions League, is even tighter than ever, with Gerrard backing his former club, who he currently coaches for. “I think Manchester City will get in there and Liverpool will be the other team. I think Manchester United and Arsenal will miss out that’s my prediction,” the former Reds skipper reckoned.

"Man United still have big games and there’s the stress of travelling for the Europa League..."

United remain favourites to lift the Europa League title, with boss Jose Mourinho having openly declared his preference for that route to Champions League qualification since it adds to the EFL Cup already in the coffers this season.

Sunderland and Middlesbrough are the likely sides to be relegated to the lower tier at the end of the table this season while Swansea City, Hull City and Crystal Palace are hoping to avoid being the third party. Palace seemed set to avoid the rat race but the 3-1 loss to Southampton dragged them back in. Hull thrashed Middlesbrough 4-2 to go two points above Swansea. The next few games will be crucial!
