Jamie Carragher Slams Leicester City Players after Win over Liverpool

Former Liverpool defender and current Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher says that Leicester City players should hang their heads in shame after managing to produce an incredible performance in the 3-1 win over Liverpool during the weekend.

The performance comes just days after Claudio Ranieri was sacked as the Leicester boss. It is understood that Leicester took the decision about sacking the manager even before the 2-1 loss against Sevilla in the Champions League. It was an incredible decision considering that Ranieri led the club to a historic Premier League title less than 12 months ago.

Carragher says that Leicester City should have kept a statue for Ranieri rather than sack him. However, the club’s performance throughout the campaign has been below par. They have been slowly slipping down the table and the threat of relegation became imminent before the club acted with the dismissal of the Italian.

Yet, Carragher says that it is highly surprising that Leicester players were able to produce this incredible turnaround in performance just a few days after Ranieri’s departure. The victory puts a sizeable distance between Leicester and the relegation zone, but Carragher cannot get beyond the fact that the players were so poor up until now.

Liverpool came into the game after a 16 day absence, which was spent in the sunny parts of the world with a training camp."Leicester were brilliant, absolutely superb tonight. But they have won the game by energy, closing people down, being horrible and being difficult to play against. That's not tactics, that's not having great players. That's having something inside you. It is right that they are asked questions because it wasn't as though we were suddenly seeing 11 fantastic footballers, we were just seeing a team fully committed,” said Carragher while analysing the 3-1 defeat for Liverpool.
