CARRAGHER DELIGHTED WITH ONE LIVERPOOL PLAYER
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragherhas praised Nathaniel Philips on his form for the Reds in the fight to secure Champions League football. Philips has been phenomenal for Liverpool this season in the absence of first choice centre backs like Dutchman Virgil Van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip. Philips drew the praise of Jamie Carragher for his form for Liverpool while he was running commentary for Sky Sports during the league game of the season between hosts Burnley and Liverpool.
According to ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, Philips can head a double-decker truck away as he referenced his impressive heading ability during the Burnley game last week Wednesday. Philips produced a man-of-the-match performance as Liverpool ran out 3-0 winners netting one of the goals in the process. He also made a crucial clearance off the line to ensure that his team finished the game with a clean sheet.
The win over the Clarets was a significant one for Liverpool who moved into the top four as a result for the first time in three months. They had not been in any of the top four places since February. The victory took the Reds winning run to three games in the league.
Philips then continued his form for the Merseyside giants as he helped his team keep a clean sheet in the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at home on Sunday in what was the final game of the season for Liverpool. Senegalese international Sadio Mane scored twice either side of the interval to lead the Reds to victory. The win over the Eagles ensured that Liverpool finished the season in the top three and just behind the Manchester duo of champions Manchester City and second-placed Manchester United.
