CARRAGHER HAILS POGBA'S IMPACT FOR UNITED
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has hailed the impact of Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, insisting that the France international midfielder should put in performances like that more often to get the praise that he deserves. Pogba was in some red-hot firm for the Red Devils on their opening league fixture against Leeds United as they thrashed the visitors 5-1 at Old Trafford in a thrilling encounter that saw the midfielder register four assists. Bruno Fernandes, Pogba's midfield partner, scored a hat-trick and also ran the show but Pogba's influence in the victory was also talked about a lot.
The speculations surrounding the future of Pogba at United have continued and he is still being linked with a move away from the club but that did not stop him from putting in one of his best performances in a Manchester United shirt against Leeds United on the opening day of the brand new English Premier League season.
He assisted Fernandes on two occasions, and also teed up teammates Mason Greenwood and Fred who both scored the second and fifth goals of United respectively. Carragher said that he knows quite well that Pogba usually gets bashed by the media for not always playing his best bits of football for his club as he does for his country but also claimed that the bashing he gets may somehow be reduced if he continues to put in performances as solid as the one he had on Saturday.
United are intending to win the Premier League title this season and they will be needing their midfield duo of Fernandes and Pogba to be at their very best all season if they want to realize that dream. Solksjaer will be keen to keep his best players in firm till the end of the season to achieve that feat.
