JAMIE CARRAGHER LAUDS DANIEL STURRIDGE
While speaking about Daniel Sturridge, Jamie Carragher has lauded the Liverpool's multi-talented striker, Sturridge whilst placing him amongst the greatest striker to have ever featured for The Reds.
On the other hand, Carragher also said that Sturridge has to learn from Roberto Firmino. Having featured in 99 appearances for Liverpool, Sturridge has been able to score 55 goals. Yet, this season has seen the Liverpool superb striker struggle to keep up a regular position for Liverpool.
So far, Sturridge has been able to start just three times for Liverpool while appearing four times only as a substitute. Unfortunately, he has been unable to find the net, and is yet to score his first Premier League goal since the start of the season.
Carragher, according to the Liverpool Echo, has said that The Reds boss, JurgenKlopp prefers Brazilian ace striker, Roberto Firmino as his main striker. His words;
"At this moment JurgenKlopp fancies Roberto Firmino in that central striker position. He is only playing one striker at the moment, which is a problem for Daniel. Last season he was playing with two, so that’s something he has to think about. How can he improve? What is Firmino doing that he is not doing?"
Carragher yet believes that Sturridge, who has an impressive goals to games ratio can push it through, get back on his feet and once more create his place in the team.
A former defender turned pundit, Carragher says that there probably might be some things that Klopp expects from Sturridge which the striker isn't doing yet. It therefore should be of much essence that the striker studies and learns from Firmino.
"We know he can do that, but perhaps JurgenKlopp wants different things from him that Firmino can add. So maybe Daniel has to look at that and think where he can improve to get back into the team." Carragher added.
