CARRAGHER CALLS ON ENGLAND ATTACKERS TO IMPROVE

England may have qualified for the Last-16 stage of the ongoing UEFA Euros tournament, but they have not been a very impressive side at the tournament judging by their performances in the games they played during the group stage fixtures. On paper, England have one of the best players in the attacking department at the tournament but those players have been underwhelming and it is almost only as a result of luck that they have now found their way to the knockout round of the competition.

With the likes of Harry Kane, Jack Grealish, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Raheem Sterling, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Bukayo Saka, Kalvin Phillips, and Phil Foden all on the squad as attackers, one would expect them to emerge as one of the best scoring teams of the tournament. However, those attackers have not been able to put their talent to good use and the team has had to rely on Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling to save the day on multiple occasions.

The former Liverpool man scored in his last two appearances for England, with both games ending in 1-0 victories. Their inability to create chances and make the most of them have been questioned a lot of the time and the latest person to have called them out is former Liverpool man Jamie Carragher.

The former footballer, now a pundit, has ripped into the England players and has told them that even though they were considered to be one of the favorites to win the competition before it even started, they have not lived up to the hype and it is particularly because their attackers have not been performing as well as they should.

Carragher called on the likes of Kane and Sterling to become more serious in front of goal and that they should make the most of their chances if they want to become winners of the tournament.
