Peter Crouch Reveals What Jamie Carragher Used To Say About Tottenham Hotspur
Stoke City striker Peter Crouch has revealed what former teammate Jamie Carragher used to stay about Tottenham Hotspur during his playing days. The 37-year-old played alongside Carragher for three seasons at Liverpool between 2005 and 2008, and he won the FA Cup and Community Shield in the process.
Writing in The Mail, Crouch was pleased to witness his former club progress into a regular top-four side. He added that Spurs are unfortunate to have not won anything over the past decade whilstrecalled an opinion from ex-teammate Carragher, he penned: “Tottenham have made themselves regulars in the top four but they are too good not to have medals. I know what the outside view of Tottenham used to be — Jamie Carragherused to say at Liverpool ‘they’ll blow up, they always do’ — but I also know how much they want that to change.”
Under Mauricio Pochettino, Spurs have turned into a club which have developed several top-class talents, and this has been witnessed in the form of results with the club finishing in the top-four in each of the past two seasons. During the same period, Spurs have come close to competing for the Premier League crown, but the lack of sufficient experience has seen their title-charge fall apart during the final months of the campaign.
Spurs have failed to come anywhere close to the title this term owing to Manchester City’s tremendous run in the Premier League, but they have the FA Cup to focus upon before the end of the campaign. Like last season, Spurs have managed to reach the semi-final stage of the famous old competition, and they will be keen to make the most of their opportunity this time around to end a decade-long wait for a trophy. Spurs face Manchester United in the semi-final of the competition and a victory would see them face one of Chelsea or Southampton in the final next month.
