He’s a man. It’s unbelievable what De Ligt is doing at 19-years-old. The performances we saw him give in the Champions League were outstanding.”

Jamie Carragher urges Callum Hudson-Odoi to decline new Chelsea contract

Liverpool legend-turned-pundit Jamie Carragher has urged Callum Hudson-Odoi to turn down a new Chelsea contract at the current point of time. The England international will be entering the final year of his deal during the summer, and Carragher believes the same should be used as a leverage to secure more gametime with the Blues.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher said that Hudson-Odoi should not rush to commit his future to the west London giants, considering he has recently earned a regular role in the Premier League. He added that the Blues graduate should extend the contract standoff until the forthcoming season to find out whether he remains an important figure at the club.

Jamie Carragher sends warning to Manchester City ahead of season run-in

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has said that Manchester City may have to overcome concerns related to fatigue as they seek to secure a historic quadruple this term. The Citizens have been flawless with their performances for most of the season and they are currently favourites to retain the Premier League title despite the strong challenge from Liverpool.

In a report covered by The Irish Independent, Carragher said that the Citizens have not had to guard against complacency over the course of the season and that could become a factor in the final months of the campaign. He added that the players will be tested on the mental and physical sides of their game in the forthcoming weeks and this could make or break their dream of sealing an unprecedented quadruple.

Jamie Carragher urges Mohamed Salah to re-focus amid slump in form

Liverpool legend-turned-pundit Jamie Carragher has urged Mohamed Salah to re-focus on the job in hand after experiencing one of the most frustrating periods of his Reds career. The Egypt international has already notched 64 goals and 25 assists for the Reds in the space of 21 months but he has recently struggled for form with no goals or assists from the past five league games.

As such, there have been many who have sympathised with the attacker’s bad run of luck but Carragher had no positive feelings after the Reds scrapped through a close 2-1 triumph over Fulham at the weekend. Speaking on Sky Sports News, Carragher insisted that Salah has been selfish and greedy with his chances over the course of the season but that has eventually come to haunt him.

Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool can make huge statement at Old Trafford

Liverpool legend-turned-pundit Jamie Carragher believes his former team can make a huge statement by getting a positive result against arch-rivals Manchester United this month. The Reds are currently equal on points with league leaders Manchester City at the top but they are trailing them on virtue of goal difference.

Still, they can catch up during the forthcoming gameweek where they have a game in hand versus Manchester United. Speaking to Sky Sports, the ex-Reds captain stated that every fixture remains crucial for the rest of the campaign, although the game at Old Trafford could prove crucial to their quest of securing a maiden Premier League crown.

Jamie Carragher says Manchester United have a better squad than Liverpool

Jamie Carragher believes Manchester United have a better squad than title-chasing Liverpool, given the variation in squad depth between the sides. The Reds have been hampered with key injuries in the defensive department and this has recently affected their league form with successive draws.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Carragher reiterated that United may have a better squad at their disposal than Liverpool at the current point of time. He added that Jurgen Klopp made a big mistake by loaning out Nathaniel Clyne, given the club are now having to adjust with James Milner in a makeshift role following injuries to Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool have minor advantage in Premier League title hunt

Liverpool legend-turned-pundit Jamie Carragher believes his former club have a minor advantage over Manchester City in the Premier League title race, given the latter are likely to prioritise success in both the domestic and European competitions. The Reds suffered their first league defeat of the season against City earlier this month but they still have a handy four-point gap over the holders at the top of the table.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Carragher highlighted that the current season could be the Reds’ best chance yet to end the wait for the maiden Premier League crown. He added that the Citizens could be at a minor disadvantage during the backend of the season, given their hierarchy would expect Pep Guardiola to guide the club to Champions League success as well.

Jamie Carragher compares Virgil van Dijk with Tony Adams

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has compared Virgil van Dijk with former Arsenal superstar Tony Adams based on the defender’s ability to make the players tick around him. The Netherlands international only joined the Reds from Southampton during the previous winter transfer window but he has since proved a huge hit while cementing his position at the heart of the club’s defence.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher hailed the qualities of the Netherlands international and suggested that the centre-back has the aura to make the players around him perform better. He added to praise the Dutchman’s goalscoring potential after scoring the Reds’ second goal with his foot during the 2-0 triumph at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

He said:“He makes other people play better around him. Tony Adams made the rest of that Arsenal back four better. He does the same. He scored a great goal for Holland a few weeks ago. His goal record isn’t great considering his size but the type of goal he got there, how many centre backs would put that over the bar?”

Jamie Carragher – Raheem Sterling was right to leave Liverpool

Liverpool legend-turned-pundit Jamie Carragher believes Raheem Sterling was right to leave the Reds to make the step up with Manchester City. The England international did not enjoy the best of starts to his Citizens career but he has upped his game to another level since Pep Guardiola took charge of the Mancunian giants.

In a report covered by The Telegraph, Carragher admitted that the move left a sour taste among the Reds supporters but one cannot deny that the attacker has transformed into one of England’s best players, he quipped: “No matter how it came about - or how unpalatable to Liverpool supporters to lose such an important player - there is no-one who can look at how his career has progressed and say he made the wrong decision. He left for footballing reasons given where Liverpool stood at the time and the direction City were heading. Raheem was guaranteed to compete for the Premier League and Champions League every season, and work under one of the best managers of all-time.”

CARRA: I HATED NEVILLE AS A PLAYER

SkySports TV pundit Jamie Carragher has admitted that his relationship with Gary Neville (which now looks very good on TV) wasn’t very good when both of them were plying their trade in professional football a few years back.

Carragher was a part of Liverpool side that was an arch rival to Manchester United, the team Neville used to play for. There were a lot of on-field altercations between the two back during the day, but now they seem to gel with each other nicely.
